Do you want to build an audience for what appears to be yet another tame and unnecessary live-action edition of a classic fairy tale? Money's already in the bank by inserting the animated short, Frozen Fever ahead of the film.
With Walt Disney Pictures rolling out what appears to be yet another tame and unnecessary live-action edition of a classic fairy tale in Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella next month, Disney is throwing down its gloves in the box office ring by inserting Frozen Fever, a seven-minute animated short continuing the stories of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf from Frozen, ahead of the screening of Cinderella.
Yes, the very same Frozen that has become such a pop culture juggernaut at all front, dominating kids across the globe with its frozen charms. We all know this is going to be more than an enhancement to Branagh's live-action take on Cinderella, but it is interesting to note that both Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the directors duo of the original will be directing the short with Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, both Oscar-winning composers for the original, returning on board to write another original song for the movie as well.
Featuring Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf (Josh Gad), Frozen Fever is about Anna's birthday with Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf scrambling to make it a big celebration until Elsa went down with a cold, and being the ice queen that she is, a cold is certainly as uncommon as they come.
Disney has released the first trailer for the animated short, giving us a glimpse at the film with the return of some other notable characters like Oaken (Chris Williams), the owner of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna, as well as Marshmallow, the snow monster conjured by Elsa in the original.
Check out the trailer right below for some heart-warming antics that bring you right back to Arendelle.
Featurette for the film.
Here are the official promo images released for the short.
Here's the official synopsis for the animated short:
In “Frozen Fever,” it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but when Elsa catches a cold, her powers may put more than just the party at risk.
Frozen Fever is set to debut in theaters with Walt Disney Pictures' Cinderella on March 13, 2015.
