Cyberpunk 2077: First Look - E3 2018

From the makers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt gave us a closer look at their next big thing,  Cyberpunk 2077, at E3 today

With the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt officially behind them, CD Projekt Red, the developing wing of Polish-based publisher CD Projekt, is now going full speed behind their next title, Cyberpunk 2077. If you can recall the short but memorable teaser trailer of the title released back in 2013, you probably also remember how it announced its release date: "when it's ready" (we have helpfully embedded that trailer right below to aid your memory.

Well, here we are five years later with CD Projekt at its peak with the monster success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, incidentally the winner of numerous Game of the Year awards.

With Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt takes a 360 genre turn, loosely adapting the tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020 (obviously that is two years later so a change in the year id all but warranted). Set in an open world futuristic metropolis, Night City, players will take on the role of V, a cyberpunk living the American Dream in the not-so-far-flung future. We happened to sense a tinge of a futuristic GTA in the first official trailer released during today's Microsoft E3 press conference. Check out the trailer right below.

Official images released thus far.

Synopsis from the official press release:

Night City, California. Year 2077.

The world is broken. MegaCorps manage every aspect of life from the top floors of their sky-scraping fortresses. Down below, the streets are run by drug pushing gangs, tech hustlers, and illegal braindance slingers. The in-between is where decadence, sex and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American Dream.

You are V, a cyberpunk. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently without an official release date but will be made available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
